These elegant copper candlesticks, known as the “Princess” model, were designed by Karl Kipp for the Roycroft community in East Aurora, New York. Dating from around 1919 to 1927, they embody the refined simplicity and superb craftsmanship central to the Arts and Crafts movement.
Each candlestick features a pair of slender hammered supports rising from pyramidal bases to hold tapering candle cups, all unified by a warm, finely mottled brown patina. Kipp, a leading figure in Roycroft metalwork, was celebrated for creating functional objects of quiet beauty. These candlesticks exemplify his belief that honest materials and handcraft elevate everyday forms into enduring works of art.
