Art Nouveau Copper and Brass Vase (Possibly Continental, c. 1900–1910)
Unmarked
Copper with cast brass supports and applied repoussé decoration
Height: Approx. 4 1/8"
This small copper vessel, likely intended for use as a toothpick holder or bud vase, features a fluid Art Nouveau design. The stylized heart or shield-shaped motif on the body is flanked by symmetrical organic flourishes, suggestive of wings or unfolding leaves. The vessel is supported by a trio of delicately arched brass legs, whose flowing lines reinforce the dynamic elegance of the form.
The interplay of materials and the rhythmic curves reflect the Art Nouveau era’s fascination with nature, movement, and ornament integrated into function. Though unmarked, the piece is consistent with continental European production of the early 1900s, possibly Austrian or German.
