This booklet accompanies the ongoing permanent metalwork exhibition at the Museum of the American Arts and Crafts Movement, drawn entirely from the Two Red Roses Foundation’s collection. It presents over 200 objects that illustrate the range and artistry of American Arts and Crafts metalwork from the late 19th to early 20th century.
The exhibition includes work by leading makers such as the Roycroft Shops, Dirk Van Erp, Karl Kipp, and the Jarvie Shop, alongside exceptional examples from the Kalo Shop, Lebolt, and independent artisans including Arthur Stone and Edward Oakes. Forms range from hand-hammered copper and silver vessels to lighting, jewelry, and decorative accessories, each piece reflecting the movement’s emphasis on honest materials, fine workmanship, and functional beauty.
Organized thematically, the installation highlights regional styles, distinctive workshop identities, and the influence of broader design movements. Period photographs and contextual materials further connect the objects to the workshops, patrons, and designers who shaped the American Arts and Crafts aesthetic.
Richly illustrated and carefully documented, the booklet serves both as a guide to the museum installation and as a reference to one of the most comprehensive holdings of American Arts and Crafts metalwork in public view today.
